DIY / Frugal Tip ~ Ease a Headache with Lavender

Try massaging a little bit of lavender oil to each temple, when you have a headache for pain relief.

DIY / Frugal Tip ~ Reduce the Convenient Food

We all are in a time crunch now and again; however, if you can, avoid or cut back on buying frozen, microwaveable or foods like that, you’ll notice a difference in your grocery bills as these items definitely cost more than making them yourself.

Frugal Tip ~ Homemade and Reusable Baby Wipes

Have you heard or do you use alternatives to reusable baby wipes?  I’m curious to hear any suggestions.  I’ve found an idea and curious if anyone has tried yet?  To replace your average baby wipe, cut old t-shirts or worn cloth diapers into your average wipe size.  Next, combine 2 tablespoons of baby shampoo with 2 cups water.  After, soak the t-shirt/diaper scraps until they are really wet.  Squeeze out the excess liquid.  Make sure to store them in a plastic airtight container/bag.

DIY Hand Sanitizer

Here is a way that you can save money by making hand sanitizer at home.  All you need to do is mix the following ingredients together:
–   1 tsp of rubbing alcohol
–   2 tsp of vegetable glycerin
–   1 cup of aloe vera gel
–   8-10 drops of lavender or whatever essential oil you’d prefer

Frugal Tip ~ Use Aloe Vera to Fight Acne

Next time you have an acne breakout, apply aloe vera to the area of the breakout. It is said that aloe vera helps heal skin completely within five days of using it and double the success rate of over-the-counter products.

Frugal Tip ~ Staying fit on a budget

Do you have a gym membership?  At the time, you had all but the best of intentions to use it (I think this has happened to all of us).  If you don’t attend the gym at least once a week, it’s probably time to think twice about the membership.  Look into how much it would cost to cancel the membership before your contract is up.  In the end, it will probably be cheaper to pay the cancellation fee and break ties from the gym.  With that money, invest in exercise equipment for your home.  Or search for fitness routines on your TV and PVR the show to use at a more convenient time.

Frugal Tip ~ Homemade Alternative to Jet Dry

FINISH® JET-DRY® Rinse Agent   Looking for an inexpensive alternative to Jet Dry?  Try your average white vinegar as a rinse aid in your dishwasher.  All you need to do is place a cup of white vinegar into the soap dispenser and run a normal cycle.  All those issues that Jet Dry fixes will be gone.  Even with the amount of energy and water you use to run a normal cycle, you’re still saving money.

Frugal Tip ~ Stop Hair Colour from Fading

To stop your coloured hair from fading as quickly, completely soak your hair with water before applying shampoo and only lather once.  Also make sure to condition your hair every time you wash your hair.
