Have some copper or brass that you want to quickly clean?  Cut a lemon in half, dip it in salt and rub over the copper/brass item, followed by wiping it clean with a damp soft cloth with water.

 

DIY / Frugal Tip ~ Cleaning Your Oven

This is an older idea but works like a charm.  Sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of your oven.  Then spray water on the baking soda so it becomes damp.  Let it sit overnight.  In the morning, scoop the baking soda and wipe the bottom clean with a damp sponge.

 

Homemade Gummy Candy Recipe

 
As a treat, I remember eat gummy bears growing up. Here’s an easy recipe so you can make gummy candies at home:
What You Will Need:
– 1 can of frozen fruit juice
– 42 grams of gelatin
– candy mold of any shape
– cooking spray
What You Will Need to do:
 
1. Once the frozen juice is thawed, place in a saucepan and slowly stir in the gelatin.
2. Continue to stir and bring contents of saucepan to a boil.
3. Take the saucepan off the heat and let it cool down a little bit but so that it still can be poured.
4. Lightly spray the candy mold with cooking spray. Then slowly pour the mixture into the mold. I usually use a ladle or measuring cup with a spout.
5. Let the candy set, for 45 minutes.
6. Once set, take the candies out and enjoy!

DIY / Frugal Tip ~ Homemade Window Cleaner

 

Here is a way to make your own window cleaner:

 

  • Pour 1/2 tsp of plant-based liquid soap, 2 cups of water and 3 Tbsp of white vinegar into a spray bottle.  Shake the contents of the bottle well and clean as usual.

DIY Craft Idea – Coloured Snowmen

Next time you are building snowmen in the backyard, try placing some Kool-Aid and water into a spray bottle to colour the snowmen.  So much fun!

All you need to do is place some coffee beans in a candle holder, place a candle in the center and let the heat from the candle warm up the coffee beans, giving off that great aroma.

This time of year, it’s so hard to keep your enterance way clean with all the slush and mess outside.  Try to keep the mess at bay buy using a baking sheet or two for wet shoes and boots.  

DIY ~ Homemade Tiger Balm

 

 

Here is how you can make your own, ‘just like’ Tiger Balm at home and you’d be surprised how easy it really is.  

 

What You Will Need:

 

–   1 oz of cayenne pepper

–   ¾ oz of beeswax

–   3 oz of arnica infused oil

–   20 drops of cinnamon leaf essential oil

–   20 drops of camphor essential oil

–   20 drops of rosemary essential oil

–   25 drops of clary sage essential oil

–   15 drops of sweet birch essential oil  

 

You should be able to find all of the above ingredients at your local health food store.  

 

What You Will Need to do:

 

Melt the beeswax.  Once this has happened, add the remaining ingredients and continue to stir until everything is mixed together well.  Then place in a container with a lid.  

 

 

DIY / Frugal Tip ~ Floor Cleaner Recipe

If you want to save some cash by making your own floor cleaner, here are the ingredients that you’ll need, just mix everything together:

–   1/8 cup of liquid soap

–   1/8 cup of white vinegar

–   12 cups of water

–   10 drops of essential oil (optional)
