Glittery Pumpkin Cupcake Recipe/Idea

Glittery Pumpkin Cupcake

I think this is an adorable recipe that I found on the Real Simple website.

What You Will Need:

–   1 tsp of coarse orange sanding sugar or orange sprinkles

–   1 package of vanilla cupcake mix

–   1 can of vanilla frosting

–   12 x 1” pieces of green licorice

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Make the cupcakes as directed on the package.

2.   Once the cupcakes have cooled, place the vanilla frosting on each cupcake, like you would normally ice a cupcake.

3.   Place the sugar in a small bowl.  Dip each cupcake in the sugar until the frosting is completely covered by the sugar.

4.   Top the licorice to make a stem.

Craft Idea ~ Sucker Gift Bouquet

I’m all about making those special types of gifts with that personal touch.  Here’s a gift I’ve made for my dad, who is about to turn 65 next month.

All I did was get a coffee mug, place some floral type foam in the middle and stick suckers in the foam, just like shown in the picture.

This was a lot of fun to make and with Halloween just around the corner, the suckers were easy to find.

How to Make Lavender Pillows

Words can not express how much I love the scent of lavender!  The scent of lavender seems to brighten my mood instantly.  I found this craft idea at the Martha Stewart website which I have revised a little bit.  I think this would also make a great Christmas gift!

To make a small pillow ~ the top is a 4 ½” and the largest ~ 7” x 15”.

To make one, cut two pieces of fabric to the same size.  Sew the fabric pieces together, right sides facing, leaving a 2” to 3” opening on one side, depending on how well you hand sew.  Clip the corners diagonally and turn the fabric right side out.  Fill the pillow with dried lavender (which you can find at your local health store) and if you’d, flax seeds to cut down on the lavender scent.  This can be revised in so many ways, as in several shapes and sizes to use as neck rolls, small throw pillows or sachets.

Frugal Tip #42 ~ Make Your Own Lip Gloss

Here’s another frugal tip on how to make your own lip gloss:

What You Will Need:

    2 tsp of honey

–   ½ cup of olive oil or sweet almond oil

–   ¾ oz of beeswax

–   10 drops of essential oil (like peppermint or cinnamon which can be found at craft stores or your local health food store)

–   1 capsule of Vitamin E

What You Need to do:

1.   In a glass or ceramic pan, heat the olive oil.

2.   Now add the beeswax and melt on low heat.

3.   Add the essential oil that you picked and honey and keep stirring on low heat.

4.   Stick a needle into the Vitamin E capsule and squeeze into the mixture.

5.   Keep stirring until everything is mixed well together.

6.   Now poor the contents of the pan into a glass or ceramic jars.

Note:  If you’re not going to use right away, I would suggest placing the lip gloss in the fridge.

Craft Idea ~ Baby Washcloth Cupcakes

Here’s a great alternative to the usual diaper cake for a baby shower that I found at the Baby Disney Website.

These adorable “sweet’s” are so easy to make at home.  All you need is four baby washcloths, two pairs of socks and four silicone baking cups, a little tape and some paper.
