Kids Crafts — DIY Play Dough Recipe

Looking for some ideas of what to do with your children during the summer?  Why not make some play dough.  I’ve never met any child that doesn’t love this project.  Best of all, it only takes 15 minutes and the ingredients are things that you’ll have in your kitchen.

What You Will Need:

–  2 cups flour
–  1 cup salt
–  1½ tablespoons cream of tartar
–  2 cups water
–  2 tablespoons olive oil
–  Food colouring

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Put all ingredients, one at a time, into a large pot.

2.  Mix all of the ingredients together on the stove, over medium heat.

3.  The ingredients will begin to form but keep stirring or the contents won’t mix properly and could possibly burn.  You will know what the play dough is ready when the contents start to clump together and shed from the sides of your pot.  When this does occur, take away from the heat.

4.  Take a handful of flour on a dry surface and place the dough there so it can cool for 3-5 minutes.

5.  Begin to knead the dough and while doing so, add a few drops of food colouring.  (I would recommend just adding 1-2 drops at first and then slowly add more until you get your desired colour).

6.  Finally, you should be done.  When the play dough is not in use, place in the fridge, in a sealed tight container or Ziploc bag, where is should last about a week.

About Dino
There are many things that I love to do. One of those things is crafts! If I could find a job that involved crafts and being able to pay the bills, I'd be all over it! I've also found a great love for cooking and baking in the past few years. Sometimes there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to be able to fully get into cooking and baking to the degree that I would like to. I've also found myself making a HUGE effort to save my family money. I'm still a beginner but I'm surprised at how many different ways I've found to save money, including starting to use coupons! I hope you enjoy all that I'm about to share.
