Cheeseburger Soup Recipe

 

A delicious recipe that is full of taste and is sure to have everyone asking for seconds:

 

What You Will Need to do:

–   1/2 pound ground beef

–   3/4 cup chopped onion

–   3/4 cup shredded carrots

–   3/4 cup diced celery

–   1 tsp basil

–   1 tsp parsley flakes

–   4 Tbsp butter

–   3 cups chicken broth

–   4 cups diced and peeled potatoes

–   1/4 cup flour

–   2 cups cubed process cheese

–   1 ½ cups milk

–   3/4 tsp salt

–   1/2 tsp pepper

–   1/4 cup sour cream

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a saucepan, cook the beef and then set aside.

2.   In the same saucepan, cook the onion, carrots, celery, basil and parsley in 1 Tbsp of butter until the vegetables become tender.

3.   Now add the broth, potatoes and beef and bring to a boil.  Once the contents start to boil, reduce the heat, cover and let simmer until potatoes are tender.

4.   While you waiting for the potatoes to cook, in a separate saucepan, melt the rest of the butter.  Then add the flour and cook until the contents begin to bubble.  Add this to the potato mixture and then bring to a boil.

5.   Once the contents are mixed together well, reduce the heat and stir in the cheese, milk, salt and pepper.  Continue to cook and stir until the cheese has melted.

6.   Now turn off the heat, stir in the sour cream and enjoy!

 

Turkey and Roasted Red Pepper Meat Loaf Recipe

An easy recipe that lets you enjoy that great taste of turkey.

 

What You Will Need:

–   1 1/2 pounds ground turkey

–   1 small chopped yellow onion

–   1/2 cup bread crumbs

–   1 beaten egg

–   1 cup grated Parmesan

–   2 Tbsp Dijon mustard

–   1 cup chopped parsley

–   1 cup of roasted red peppers from a jar  – cut into ½” pieces

–    ¾ tsp salt

–   ½ tsp pepper

 

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Preheat your oven to 400° F.

2.   In a bowl, mix the turkey, onion, bread crumbs, egg, Parmesan, mustard, parsley, red peppers, salt and pepper.  Shape the meat into an 8” loaf and place in a baking dish.

3.   Bake for 45 minutes and enjoy.

 

 

 

Just Like Olive Garden Cream of Tomato and Basil Soup

The Olive Garden’s Cream of Tomato and Basil Soup is one of my favourites and as always, I’m trying to find ways to cut costs and make yummy things at home.  Here’s a copycat recipe which I think is the real deal to the original, if not very close.

What You Will Need:

–   3 Tbsp of fresh basil, chopped.  Even though the freshness of this ingredient does make a     difference, it could be used if it is not.

–   4 Tbsp of butter

–   a little salt and pepper for taste

–   3 cups of diced canned tomatoes which equals to roughly 5 oz

–   1 small red onion chopped finely

–   2 cups of heavy cream

–   2 cups of white wine

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Melt the butter into a sauce pan.

2.   Next, sauté the onion in butter.

3.   Then add the white wine, tomatoes and heavy cream.  Bring all the contents of the sauce pan to a simmer.

4.   After the first three steps are complete, take the contents of the pan and place in a food processor.  Stir the basil, pepper and salt in and let mix for a few minutes.

DIY Hand Sanitizer

Here is a way that you can save money by making hand sanitizer at home.  All you need to do is mix the following ingredients together:
–   1 tsp of rubbing alcohol
–   2 tsp of vegetable glycerin
–   1 cup of aloe vera gel
–   8-10 drops of lavender or whatever essential oil you’d prefer

Eggs Benedict Casserole Recipe

 

Whenever I go out for breakfast, I always order Eggs Benedict.  Yum!  Here’s an easy way to make it a home yourself.
What You Will Need:
 
–   8 eggs
–   3 cups milk
–   3 chopped green onions
–   1 tsp onion powder
–   1 tsp salt
–   1 tsp onion powder
–   3/4 pound Canadian Bacon – cut up into roughly ½” pieces
–   6 English Muffins – cut up into roughly ½” pieces
–   1/2 tsp paprika
–   1 package hollandaise sauce
–   1/4 cup butter
What You Will Need to do:
1.   Preheat your oven to 375°F.
2.   Spray a baking dish with cooking spray.
3.   In a bowl, whisk the eggs, 2 cups of milk, onions, salt and onion powder together.
4.   In the baking dish, layer the Canadian bacon, then the English muffins, alternating until everything is in the dish.
5.   Pour the egg mixture over top of the contents of the baking dish.
6.   Sprinkle paprika over top, cover baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.  Take off cover of dish and bake for another 15 minutes.
7.   While you’re waiting for the above to bake, whisk the hollandaise sauce mix with 1 cup milk in a saucepan.  Once mixed together well, add the butter and bring to a boil.  Once the contents start boiling, turn the heat down and continue stirring until it becomes thick.
8.   Pour the hollandaise sauce over top of the contents of the baking dish and enjoy!

Bacon Salad Dressing Recipe

 

 My husband loves bacon so this salad dressing is made at home quite a bit:
What You Will Need:
–   2 slices of bacon
–   4 thinly sliced green onions
–   2 minced cloves of garlic
–   1/4 cup of red wine vinegar
–   2 tsp of sugar
–   1 tsp of coarse mustard
–   1/4 tsp of pepper
What You Will Need to do:
1.   In a skillet, cook the bacon until crisp.   Once the bacon is cooked, remove from skillet, place on paper towel and crumb but reserve 2 Tbsp of the bacon grease.
2.   Add the green onions and garlic to the bacon grease in the skillet.  Cook until the onions become tendered.
3.   Next, stir in the vinegar, sugar, mustard and pepper.
4.   Now stir in the crumbled bacon.  Continue to stir until everything has warm throughout.
Tastes great served warm on salad.

 

Catalina Cranberry Chicken Recipe

 

I remember my mom use to make this dish all the time. It was, without a doubt, one of my favorites. The combination of ingredients may seem kind of strange but it is absolutely delicious!
What You Will Need:
– 3 lb of skinless chicken thighs and/or breasts
– 1 can of whole berry cranberry sauce
– 1/2 cup of catalina dressing
– 1 package of onion soup mix
What You Will Need to do:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
2. Place the chicken in a baking dish.
3. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together and then pour over the chicken.
4. Bake for about 45 minutes or until the chicken is done.

Fried Potato Balls Recipe

 

 

This is a lot easier to make than I had thought.  Everyone always enjoys these so much.  I usually serve them with either ranch dressing or sweet and sour sauce for dipping.

 

What You Will Need:

–   2 cups of mashed potatoes

–   1 beaten egg

–   3/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

–   1/2 cup of chopped green onions

–   1/4 cup of bacon bits

–   1/2 cup of dry bread crumbs

–   oil for frying

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Place mashed potatoes in a large bowl and let sit at room temperate for about 30 minutes.

2.   Now stir in the egg, cheese, onions and bacon bits.  Shape into 1-inch balls and then roll in bread crumbs.

3.   In a skillet, heat up the oil.  Fry potato balls for 2-3 minutes or until they become golden brown.

4.   Place on paper towel to absorb excess oil and enjoy!

 

Craft Idea ~ Paper Curls Valentine Wreath

Paper Curls Valentine Wreath

 

 

A wreath covered with paper curls bursts with Valentine’s Day.  Lovely over a mantel or on a door, this valentine wreath is easy to construct which I found at the Better Homes website.

What You Will Need and Need to do:

Tightly wrap 1×6-inch strips of patterned paper around a pencil to curl. Glue the end of each curl into a loop. Hot-glue the paper to an 8-inch foam wreath form. Repeat until the form is covered. Lightly brush liquid adhesive over the paper curls, and sprinkle with glitter. Print a Valentine’s Day sentiment on patterned paper, back it with a felt circle, and add a white stick for a paper lollipop embellishment.
