Safely clean various baby items, such as play pen, car seat or high chair, by sprinkling baking soda on a damp sponge and then clean the item, rinse thoroughly.

 

Greek Salad Pinwheel Recipe

 

A recipe that is a full of Mediterranean flavour.

 

What You Will Need:

–   1 package (250g/8oz) of garlic and herb cream cheese

–   1/2 cup of crumbled feta cheese

–   6 flour tortillas

–   1/3 cup of finely chopped cucumber

–   1/3 cup of chopped olives

–   1 ½ cups of chopped tomatoes

–   3 cups of baby spinach leaves

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a bowl, beat the cream and feta cheese together.  Followed by stirring in the chopped cucumber.

2.   Microwave the tortillas for about 10 seconds so that they become soft.

3.   Spread ¼ cup of the cheese fixture on each tortilla.

4.   Spread the olives and tomatoes evenly on each tortilla.  Follow by ½ cups of spinach on each tortilla.

5.   Roll and wrap each tortilla in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

6.   Next, cut each roll into 1-inch slices and enjoy.

 

Layered Bean Dip with Bacon Recipe

 

This is a great party snack with a twist!  It has bacon in it too!

What You Will Need:

–   2 cups of canned refried beans

–   1/4 cup of water

–   2 tsp of taco seasoning mix

–   1/2 cup of grated cheddar cheese

–   1/2 cup of grated Monterey Jack cheese

–   2 large avocados

–   1/2 Tbsp of lime juice

–   1/4 tsp of garlic powder

–   1/4 tsp of onion powder

–   1/2 cup of sour cream

–   5 slices of cooked bacon

–   1/2 cup of sliced black olives

–   1 diced tomato

–   2 chopped green onions

–   2 Tbsp chopped cilantro

–   as many tortilla chips as you’d like

What You Would Need to do:

1.   In a bowl, combine refried beans, water and taco seasoning.  Once well mixed in a bowl, spread the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch casserole dish.  Distribute beans evenly with both grated cheeses.

2.   Peel and mash the avocados with a fork and then place in a bowl.  Mix in the lime juice, onion powder and garlic powder.  Now spread this mixture over cheese.

3.   Next, layer the sour cream in the dish.  Now layer the bacon, then the tomatoes and olives.  Sprinkle the green onions and chopped cilantro.

–   This can be placed in the refrigerator until you’d like to enjoy the dish.

Frugal Tip ~ Have Breakfast for Dinner to Save

I really like breakfast but with being so busy, we don`t get a chance to eat a great breakfast all the time.  Try having a delicious breakfast for dinner like omelets, pancakes or anything in between.  Plus, you`ll be saving quite a bit of money by having eggs instead of meat for a meal.

 

Risotto with Shrimp, Asparagus and Cheddar Recipe

 

Risotto is a new favourite of mine.  This recipe is pretty simple but still tasty.

 

What You Will Need:

–   1 Tbsp of butter

–   1 chopped onion

–   2 chopped cloves of garlic

–   1 1/4 cups of arborio rice

–   3 ½ cups of chicken broth

–   1/2 tsp of thyme

–   1 bay leaf

–   12 of large shelled shrimp

–   1 bunch of asparagus cut into 1˝ pieces

–   1 ½ cups grated cheddar

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a skillet, melt the butter.  Cook the onion and garlic for a couple of minutes.

2.   Next, add the rice and stir thoroughly to coat the grains with butter.  Add the chicken broth, thyme and bay leaf.  Let simmer for about 15 minutes.

3.   Now, add shrimp and asparagus.  Cook for 5 minutes with cover on.

4.   Then take the lid over and let cook for another 5 minutes or until all of the liquid has absorbed.

5.   Discard the bay leaf and stir in the Cheddar.

Pretzel, Lemon and Blueberry Cheesecake Treats Recipe

 

As I`ve mentioned before, I really like desserts that are salty and sweet.  This is a big favourite of mine.

 

What You Will Need:

–   make your own sugar cookies or use 1 roll of refrigerated sugar cookies

–   1 ½ cups of crushed pretzels

–   2 cups of blueberries + 2 cups of blueberries for garnishment

–   1/2 cup of sugar

–   3 packages (250g/8oz per package) of cream cheese

–   2 tsp of vanilla

–   2 Tbsp of grated lemon peel

–   3 eggs

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Preheat your oven to 350°F.

2.   In a bowl, divide the cookie dough and mix in 1 cup of pretzel crumbs.  Press the dough into a 9-inch pan, sprayed with cooking spray.  Bake for 5 minutes and them place 2 cups of blueberries on the crust.

3.   In another bowl, beat the vanilla, sugar, cream cheese and lemon peel together.  Once mixed together well, beat in the eggs.  Now add this mixture to the top of the blueberries into the pan.

4.   Bake for 30 minutes.  Then cool for 1 hour.

5.   Cut into square pieces, spoon the rest of the pretzel crumbs and blueberries on top.

Slow Cooker Spicy Chicken Bean Dip Recipe

I`m always looking for different recipe ideas for when I have people over.  Here is another recipe that I found to change up the usual and boring:

 

What You Will Need:

–   2 packages (250g/8oz a package) of chive and onion cream cheese

–   1 ¼ cups of chopped canned tomatoes

–   1/4 cup of milk

–   ½ tsp of fajita seasoning mix

–   1 tsp of ground cumin

–   2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese

–   2 cups of shredded Monterey Jack cheese

–   2 cups of finely chopped cooked chicken

–   1 ¾ cups of canned white kidney beans

–   2 Tbsp of fresh cilantro

–   tortilla chips, pita wedges or anything you`d like to serve with the dip

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   In your slow cooker, mix the cream cheese, tomatoes, milk, fajita seasoning and cumin together.

2.   Next, stir in the chicken, cheeses and kidney beans.

3.   Cook on LOW for 2-3 hours.

4.   Stir in cilantro and enjoy.

 

Cranberry Chili Recipe

Perfect recipe with a twist to warm you up on a chilly day.

What You Will Need:

–   1 lb of lean ground beef

–   1 cup of salsa

–   2 cups of canned refried beans

–   2 cups of diced tomatoes

–   1 Tbsp of chili powder

–   1 clove of garlic

–   2 cups of canned whole berry cranberry sauce

–   2 cups of canned, rinsed and drained dark red kidney beans

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a large pan, brown the ground beef and pour off any fat.

2.   Add the salsa sauce, refried beans, tomatoes, chili powder and garlic.  Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.  Cover and continue to cook for 20 minutes.

3.   Add cranberry sauce and kidney beans.

4.   Let cook for another 10 minutes and enjoy!
