Shrimp Pasta for Two Recipe

 

 

Are you looking for a quick dinner recipe on those busy nights?  Here’s a recipe to fill the stomach in a fraction of the time:

What You Will Need to do:

–   2 Tbsp of balsamic vinaigrette

–   ½ lb of peeled shrimp

–   1 cup of uncooked fettuccine

–   1 chopped tomato

–   ¼ package of cream cheese, cubed

–   2 Tbsp of basil

–   2 Tbsp of finely grated Parmesan cheese

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a bowl, pour the balsamic vinaigrette over the shrimp and let marinate for at least 20 minutes in the refrigerator.

2.   Cook the pasta as indicated on the package.

3.   In a skillet, cook the shrimp for about 5 minutes or until the shrimp turns pink.  Set the shrimp aside.

4.   Next, place the cream cheese, tomatoes and basil into skillet and cook for about 3 minutes or until everything is mixed together well.

5.   Add the shrimp to the skillet and continue to stir together.

6.   Drain the pasta, place on plate and pour the skillet contents on top.

7.   Sprinkle cheese on top and enjoy!

 

Marshmallow Gingerbread Treats Idea

I found this sooo adorable gingerbread treat idea at the Parents website:

 

What You Need to do:

1.   To make four of these adorable treats, combine 1/2 cup sugar with 2 tsp of cinnamon and ½ tsp of ginger in a bowl.

2.   In another bowl, fill with water.  Melt 1 cup of white chocolate chips, as indicated on package, then transfer the chocolate to a Ziploc bag and snip off a corner.

3.   To form each pop, slide two marshmallows onto a lollipop stick.

4.   Use the melted chocolate to adhere mini marshmallow arms and legs as shown in the picture.

5.   Let the chocolate set.  Dip the pop in the water, then roll it in the sugar mixture until coated.

6.   Pipe on a chocolate face, then use more chocolate to attach heart and confetti sprinkle buttons, bows, and bow ties.

 

Curry and Mustard Meatballs ~ Slow Cooker Recipe

 

Here is a tasty cocktail meatball recipe that changes the usual traditional meatball recipes:

What You Will Need:

–   2 cups of canned pineapples tidbits, including juice

–   1 cup of Dijon mustard

–   ½ cup of brown sugar

–   1 tsp of curry powder

–    2 ½ lbs (about 80) frozen/cooked meatballs or homemade, already cooked meatballs

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a pan, combine all the ingredients, except meatballs, and bring to a boil, while continuing to stir.

2.   Place the meatballs in your slow cooker.

3.   Pour the contents of the pan over the meatballs.

4.   Cook on HIGH for 4 hours, stirring contents of slow cooker every hour.

DIY ~ Homemade Brown Sugar

 

 

 

Does a recipe you’re making call for brown sugar and you’ve run out?  Here’s a way to make brown sugar at home:

What You Will Need:

–   2 cups of sugar

–   1 ½ Tbsp of molasses

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Place all the ingredients in a bowl.

2.   Slowly mix the contents of the bowl with either a stand or hand mixer.  When the contents of the bowl start to ball, turn up the mixer and continue to mix for about 5 minutes or until things don’t ball anymore.

 

Slow Cooker Lemony Party Mix

 

 

This is a recipe that changes up the ol’ party mix that is usually made:

 

What You Will Need:

–   2 cups of broken plan pita chips

–   5 cups of multigrain cheerios

–   ¼ cup of pumpkin seeds

–   2/3 cup of chopped up walnuts

–   2 Tbsp of dill weed

–   1 tsp of rosemary

–   2 Tbsp of olive oil

–   1 Tbsp of shredded lemon peel

–   1oz of dry ranch salad dressing mix

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Spray your slow cooker with cooking spray.

2.   In the slow cooker, combine the cheerios, pita chips, pumpkin seeds, dill weed, walnuts, rosemary and salad dressing mix.  Sprinkle the olive oil on top and gently mix together.

3.   Cook on LOW for 2 ½ hours but stir every 30 minutes.

4.   Sprinkle the lemon peel over contents of slow cooker and gently mix together.

5.   Let cool down before serving.

 

DIY / Frugal Tip ~ Homemade Daily Shower Cleaner

Save quite a bit of money by making homemade daily shower cleaner.  In a spray bottle which can hold about 8 cups, pour 1 cup of rubbing alcohol and the remaining with water.  After each shower, spray your walls and the shower curtain.

Maple Sweet Potato Cups Recipe

 

 

This is a great veggie recipe that will be having everyone asking for seconds:

What You Will Need:

–   6 cups of mashed sweet potatoes

–   1/3 cup of softened butter

–   1/3 cup of brown sugar

–   1/3 cup of maple syrup

–   1 tsp of salt

–   3 tsp of grated orange peel

–   ½ cup of sugar

–   4 egg whites

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Preheat your oven to 400°F.

2.   In a bowl, stir the sweet potatoes, brown sugar, syrup, butter, orange peel and salt.

3.   Spoon mixture from bowl into individual baking type of dishes.  Then place on a baking sheet.  Place in the oven for 15 minutes.

4.   In a bowl, beat the egg whites until it becomes to foam.  Then slowly add the sugar until it becomes to stiffen.

5.   Take the sweet potato dishes out of the oven.  Spread the meringue that you made in step 4 on top of the individual dishes.

6.   Place back into the oven for another 5 minutes or until the meringue becomes golden brown.

 

 

DIY / Frugal Tip ~ Homemade Potpourri

Save some cash by making some homemade potpourri.  In a bowl, mix some pine cones, citrus peels, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves and allspice.

 

Double Caramel Sponge Candy Recipe

Below you’ll find an easy candy recipe with a great sweet and sour taste to it:

What You Will Need:

–   1 cup of sugar

–   2 tsp of vanilla

–   ½ cup of corn syrup

–   ¼ cup of toffee bits

–   1 tbsp of baking soda

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Line a baking sheet with wax paper.

2.   In a pot, heat up the sugar with corn syrup and vanilla.  Bring to a vigorous boil.  Continue to boil until bubbles are brown-tinged which will roughly be 4 minutes.

3.   Remove from the heat and quickly whisk in baking soda.

4.   Once the contents of the pot begins to expand, pour out immediately onto the baking sheet.  Let cool for about 2 minutes and then sprinkle toffee bits overtop.

5.   Cool completely and then crack into pieces.
