Cheesy Gratin Brussels Sprouts Recipe

Even if you don’t like Brussels sprouts, you will with this delicious recipe:

What You Will Need:

–   4 slices of bacon

–   1 finely chopped onion

–   7 cups of Brussels sprouts

–   1 minced clove of garlic

–   1 cup of chicken broth

–   1 ½ cups of milk

–   5 Tbsp of flour

–   ¼ cup + 4 Tbsp of butter

–   ½ tsp of salt

–   ¾ cup of grated parmesan cheese

–   1 ½ cups of grated white cheddar cheese

–   1 Tbsp of Dijon mustard

–   ¼ tsp of thyme

–   ¼ tsp of pepper

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Preheat your oven to 375°F.

2.   In a skillet, cook the bacon and then set bacon aside.

3.   Keep about 2 Tbsp of the bacon fat from the pan and sauté the onions, add the garlic and continue to cook.

4.   Scrape the onions and garlic into a large, shallow casserole and spread them around evenly.  Set aside.

5.   Trim the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half lengthwise.  Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.  Add the Brussels sprouts and continue to cook for about 5 minutes.  Drain and then transfer to the casserole dish, spreading the sprouts evenly in the dish.

6.   Mix the milk and chicken broth in a saucepan.  Bring to a simmer, then remove from the heat.

7.   Next, melt the butter in a large saucepan.  Add the flour and cook, stirring for about 1 minute or until the flour becomes light brown.

8.   Whisk in half of the hot milk and broth.  Continue to stir until contents become thick.  Add the remaining liquid and cook for about 5 minutes, whisking frequently.

9.   Whisk in the Parmesan cheese, mustard, salt, pepper and thyme.  Pour the sauce evenly over the Brussels sprouts.  Mince the bacon and sprinkle it over the sauce.  Sprinkle the Cheddar cheese on top.

10.   Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.

About Dino
There are many things that I love to do. One of those things is crafts! If I could find a job that involved crafts and being able to pay the bills, I'd be all over it! I've also found a great love for cooking and baking in the past few years. Sometimes there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to be able to fully get into cooking and baking to the degree that I would like to. I've also found myself making a HUGE effort to save my family money. I'm still a beginner but I'm surprised at how many different ways I've found to save money, including starting to use coupons! I hope you enjoy all that I'm about to share.
