–   ¼ cup of melted margarine

–   2 packages (16oz) of cream cheese

–   2/3 cup of sour cream

–   2 eggs

–   10oz of frozen chopped spinach which has been thawed

–   14oz of artichoke hearts

–   ¾ cup of grated parmesan cheese

–   ¼ tsp of cayenne pepper

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2.   Crush 20 crackers and then mix with butter.  Press onto the bottom of a 9” springform pan.  Stand the remaining whole crackers around the inside of the pan and set aside.

3.   Beat the cream cheese and sour cream into a bowl until completely blended.

4.   Add the eggs and continue to mix.  Now add the remaining ingredients.

5.   Pour all the ingredients into the crust.

Frugal Tip #43 ~ Remove Lipstick or Ink Stains With Toothpaste

I don’t know how many different products I’ve bought from the store and they never seem to get stains out like they promise they will.  I found that if you have ink or lipstick stains on your fabric, just put some white (non-gel) toothpaste on the stain and rub it in very well.  Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse the toothpaste out with water.  If it doesn’t work the first time, try this process a few more times and the stain will come out.

Homemade Butterfingers Recipe

This is such a delicious recipe and since Halloween is just around the corner, I figured that this would be a good time to share as one of the main ingredients, candy corn, is readily available right now.

What You Will Need:

–   1 lb of candy corn

–   16 oz of peanut butter

–   16 oz of chocolate chips or semi-sweet baker’s chocolate squares

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Place the candy corn in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute.  Stir and continue to cook in 20 second intervals until the candy corn is completely melted.

2.   Now, stir in the peanut butter.  If it seems hard to stir in, place in the microwave for 20 seconds.

3.   Once the contents of the bowl is completely mixed together, spread into an 8×8 pan, lined with wax paper.

4.   Let the mixture cool completely by placing into the fridge.

5.   Next, cut into squares, at the size you desire.

6.   Place the chocolates in another microwave save bowl and cook in 10 second intervals until melted.

7.   Dip the butterfinger mixture into the melted chocolate.  This may get a little messy though.

8.   Once covered in chocolate, place on wax paper so the chocolate can set.

Arby’s Sauce Recipe

My most favourite thing about Arby’s is their sauce.  Hmmm!  I make the sauce at home and use it for sandwich for lunches.  Here’s the recipe so you can make it at home yourself.  Enjoy!

What You Will Need:

1 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons water
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon original flavour Tabasco sauce

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Put all of the ingredients into a saucepan.  At a medium heat setting, constantly stir while cooking the sauce until it begins to boil.  This will usually take about 8 minutes.

2.   After, remove from the heat and let it completely cool.

This will keep in the fridge, in a closed container, for roughly two months.

Frugal Tip #42 ~ Make Your Own Lip Gloss

Here’s another frugal tip on how to make your own lip gloss:

What You Will Need:

    2 tsp of honey

–   ½ cup of olive oil or sweet almond oil

–   ¾ oz of beeswax

–   10 drops of essential oil (like peppermint or cinnamon which can be found at craft stores or your local health food store)

–   1 capsule of Vitamin E

What You Need to do:

1.   In a glass or ceramic pan, heat the olive oil.

2.   Now add the beeswax and melt on low heat.

3.   Add the essential oil that you picked and honey and keep stirring on low heat.

4.   Stick a needle into the Vitamin E capsule and squeeze into the mixture.

5.   Keep stirring until everything is mixed well together.

6.   Now poor the contents of the pan into a glass or ceramic jars.

Note:  If you’re not going to use right away, I would suggest placing the lip gloss in the fridge.
